As my first post under the new page ‘Handy Green Kitchen Tips’.I am going to introduce to you EucoClean, a multi-purpose, antibacterial cleaner which contains Eucalyptus Essential Oil. It is a completely natural and environmentally sound product.
I came across this magic product in an organic store here called Flannerys. It is usually used to treat bed bugs, lice and dust mites. However, it works just as well on kitchen bench tops, stoves, walls and tiles. Ever since I got my hands on it, I have not regretted purchasing it. It honestly is my life saver in the kitchen! Life saver? What do you mean you may be thinking! See, my dear husband is very pedantic when it comes to the kitchen bench top. Ours is a typical Indian household where we use copious amounts of turmeric powder in our day to day cooking. Those who have used turmeric will know that it stains bench tops and usually its a living nightmare trying to remove the stains. I used to get an earful from my husband each time I stained the bench top. So off I went trying to find a solution to this problem and I got hold of Eucoclean.
One day I was cleaning the bench top with Eucoclean and on that particular day I had a few turmeric stains on the kitchen bench top. I tried my luck with the Eucoclean. Voila! It worked! The stain was gone after 10 minutes of soaking it with the Eucoclean solution. Just to make sure that I was not imagining things, I attempted to clean it another time and purposely created a huge turmeric stain on my bench top (it was a BIG risk). Again, the Eucolean worked its magic! Since this experiment, there has been no turning back. I use this spray all the time. I have introduced it to my mother and she buys heaps of these back home every time she visits us. See the picture below for a demonstration of cleaning a turmeric stained bench top.
You can use it as an alternative to bleach on your kitchen walls too. For those of you who may not have access to this spray, why not make your own spray? Add 15 drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil to 1/2 cup white vinegar to a clean spray bottle. Add enough water. Shake it well and its ready to be used! Try it and do let me know how you go!
